It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Elizabeth Shaw (nee Bialek), aged 78, of Middle River, Maryland, who passed away on June 6, 2025, at Stella Maris in Timonium, Maryland.
Arlene was born on July 29, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, to John William Bialek and Lillian Anna Bialek (nee Fabiszak). She was a graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. She went on to work for Western Electric Baltimore Works and spent thirty years with Baltimore County Public Schools, with a long tenure as the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the original Victory Villa Elementary School.
Arlene is survived by her husband, James "Jim" M. Shaw, Sr.; son James M. Shaw, Jr. and his wife, Carla (nee Birmingham); granddaughter Kassandra Y. Shaw; and great-granddaughter Charley S. Boswell; brother-in-law Douglas Shaw and his wife Retha "Midge" (nee Hunt); nephew Father Mark Bialek; and niece Carolynn Mitchell (nee Shaw) and her husband, Dwayne. She was a step-grandmother to step-granddaughters Madison Spinatto (nee Tacka), Morgan Tacka, and MacKenzie Tacka; step-grandsons Troy Carroll, Terry Carroll (deceased), and Kevin Carroll; and step-great-granddaughter Julieanna Cash. Arlene was preceded in death by her brother, Robert J. Bialek, and his wife, Sharon (nee Wiedeck).
A visitation will take place Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21211. An additional visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The entombment will take place at Holly Hills Memorial Gardens, located at 10201 Bird River Road, Baltimore, MD 21220.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) in memory of Arlene.
