Barry "Mike" Michael Heim, beloved son of the late John N. Heim and the late Kathryn A. Hill; was born on August 28, 1950. He departed this life suddenly on November 25, 2024, at the age of 74.
Known to many as "Mike", Barry grew up in Baltimore County, Maryland, where he attended Baltimore County Public Schools. He was a kind-hearted man with a deep love for nature and the outdoors. Fishing and hunting were at the top of his variated list of interests. Whether it was spending time in the woods or enjoying the beauty of his surroundings, Barry found peace and happiness in the natural world.
His jobs were many and different; from a deputy sheriff in Chestertown, MD, to operating a printing press in Owings Mills, Maryland. Barry forsake these pleasures to work as a security guard at The Good Samaritan Hospital where he eventually met and married the love of his life, Elaine Harris.
Barry and Elaine shared 35 beautiful years of marriage together where they built a life full of laughter, unforgettable memories, and a love that lasted. Their bond was truly unshakeable and Elaine was his one true love and soulmate.
Barry had a great appreciation for family and was deeply devoted t those closest to him. He is survived by his stepson Anthony Harris and daughter-in-law Lucy Harris, whom he loved as his own. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon Harris, Anthony Harris Jr., and Davita Simms, and he cherished his great-grandchildren Deonte, Lyric, and Milan.
Barry was also the loving brother to Verna A. Smith, Robert F. Heim, and William P. Heim. His extended family includes a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; along with many dear friends, including his best friend, Tom, who held a special place in this life.
Barry will be remembered for his warm personality, his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones, and his ability to brighten any room he entered. His loss leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him.
The family of Barry M. Heim extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown love, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Your prayers, comforting words, and acts of generosity have been a great source of comfort and strength.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Monday, December 9th, 2024 at 7 pm. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2024 from 2 - 4, and 6 - 8 pm.
Interment private.
