Catherine Esther Clawson

Catherine Clawson passed away on June 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Glenn L. Clawson and the late Grace I. Ewing; loving sister of Glenn L. Clawson, Jr. and his late wife Shirley, Bertha Irene Braun, the late Phillip A. Clawson and his late wife Diane, Barbara Perez and her husband Santos Perez and Step-brother, Greg Brooks and his wife Rose; cherished aunt of Janet Braun Beckner, Danny Braun, Elliot Perez (God Son) and the late Joshua Perez.

Catherine spent her working life as a waitress, a profession that perfectly reflected who she was at heart—kind, hardworking, welcoming, and devoted to others. Many people knew and loved her from her years at the Filmore Inn, which later became the Sunset Inn; where her warm smile, quick wit, and caring nature made everyone feel like family. She never met a stranger, and it seemed impossible to find someone who didn't love her once they got to know her. She spent a lot of time watching her nephews Elliot and Joshua, who she was like a second mother to. She even worked with Joshua while serving, he was a busboy.

A wonderful sister and friend, Catherine was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her generosity knew no limits, and she gave freely of her time, energy, and love. She accomplished more on her own than most people ever could, facing life's challenges with strength, determination, and grace. She was truly an impressive woman whose resilience inspired everyone around her.

Catherine loved life and knew how to enjoy it. She cherished gathering around a card table with family and friends, especially for games of Texas Hold'em and Spades. Whether she was winning a hand or sharing a laugh, she made every moment memorable. She loved spending time with her friends Trudy and Charlotte. She also loved traveling to Wildwood Beach, where she found happiness in the ocean air, sunshine, and good company.

One of Catherine's greatest joys was her beloved red car, which she treasured and proudly drove. It was a reflection of her spirit—bright, vibrant, and impossible to miss. She also adored her nephew Danny, who held a very special place in her heart.

Catherine's love and devotion to her family was shown in many ways but the biggest known act of love was from her sister Bertha and niece Janet who dropped everything in Tennessee to come to Baltimore to take care of Catherine in her final moments. 

Above all else, Catherine will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering support of those she cared about, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Her kindness, strength, humor, and generosity leave behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Though she will be deeply missed, Catherine's memory will remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and love for her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 12pm at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens located at 5598 Trumps Mill Road, Baltimore, MD 21206.
