Charlotte’s remarkable resilience inspired us all; stories told of how she grew up in the West Virginia coal mines and mountains in her little white shoes, skipped school in first grade and was punished for stealing scoops of sugar from the sugar bowl at night. Her adolescent years were not fair but she found her first love and bore three amazing children. She traveled overseas to Germany when her first born was delivered. Later her second child was born a son in Maryland and another daughter just 11 months later. Her second love, survived widow of Allen “Doc” Watson, bore a daughter. Her body succumbed to a devastating cardiac event that amazing critical care teams tended to her meticulously for weeks. Her mind and spirit will live on forever through her four children Kelly, Joseph Jr., Laura, and Jennifer; her grandchildren Melissa, the late Tiffany, Dylan, Alicsandra, Spencer, Gage, Rebecca, Seth, Kyle, and Keith and great great grandchildren (that she borrowed photos of each when shared on social media accounts).
She was surrounded by her immediate family and longtime husband-partner Mark Sybert, until the end.
Thank you to everyone who has sent condolences, meals, gifts, and flowers; your kindness is a testament to the profound impact of Charlotte’s life. May we all find peace and solace in all we were able to share with her.
A viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Ave, Essex MD 21221 on Wednesday, August 27th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a Celebration of Life taking place at 7pm.
