It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford D. Porter on February 11, 2025, at the age of 87. Clifford passed away peacefully at Inspirations Bayside Memory Care surrounded by his loved ones.
“Those we love, don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear”
Clifford was born on February 25, 1937 in Catawba, WV to the parents of Henry and Zelma Porter. Clifford met the love of his life and beloved wife, Dottie Porter, and shared 68 years of marriage together. He was blessed with two sons, Randy and Rodney Porter.
Clifford was known for his strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for his family, fellow friends, and the community. He enjoyed playing lead guitar in a band at local venues and at the Marco Club, a social club he belonged to since 1964. He also had a passion for golf, where he belonged to a local golf league traveling to play in several states earning endless trophies! Clifford pledged his dedication to the workforce at General Motors, where he retired after 25 years of service.
He also served his country as an Airman Second Class in the United Stated Air Force, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in May 1957.
Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Dottie, and son Randy. Granddaughters Jessica & Sheena (Jake), Grandson’s Michael Ray (Katie) & Rodney Jr. Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie, Olivia, Stella, Jayson, Calla & Jaxon. Sister Bonnie, Brothers Shannon (Linda), Verlin (Dottie), Robert (Jamie), Jesse, Jimmy (Charlotte), and several loving niece’s nephews and cousins. Proceeded in joining the Lord: Mother & Father, son, Rodney, and sister Carol.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it! When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly! While his departure comes with great sadness and a deep wound, it will be gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply. We are blessed that he can now rest.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time. A viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue, Baltimore MD 21221 on Sunday February 16 from 4-8pm. A funeral service will take place Monday at 10am followed by burial at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asked that you make a donation to Gilchrist Hospice Services in honor of Clifford.
In loving memory:
Like a shadow in the moonlight
Like the whisper of the seas
Like the echoes of a melody
Just beyond our reach
In the shadow of our sorrow
Past the whisper of goodbye
Love shines through eternity
A heartbeat from our eye
