The family of Eileen Regina Lavery is saddened to announce her passing on
Monday, December 30th , 2024 at the age of 80 years.
She was born to the late William Lavery and the late Mary (née McCarthy) and was the loving sister of the late Mary Beth Lavery. She is survived by her brothers, William Lavery and his wife Mary Jean (née Hutelmyer) and Joseph Lavery and his wife Rondi (née Hiser), and her youngest sister Fran and her husband John Moscato.
Eileen is survived by ten nieces (Maureen, Karen, Margaret, Julia, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Kelli) and nephews (Billy, Matthew, and Michael) who she loved like they were her own children. She also cherished her four grand-nieces (Alyssa, Ashley, Hannah, and Josie) and her eight grand-nephews (Cameron, Connor, Jackson, Jaecob, Jameson, John, Liam, and Ryan) .
Eileen received her nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy University, her bachelor’s in nursing degree from Coppin State University, and her master’s in community health nursing from Wesley College where her thesis focused on bullying in elementary school. She was passionate about her profession as a nurse, took pride in her work, and was highly valued in the positions she filled throughout her career . This included in the University of Maryland’s stroke unit, at Bon Secours home health, and the west Baltimore community health care corporation. She retired in December 2017 as a staff development coordinator and clinical specialist at Erickson Living, Oak Crest.
Beyond her devotion to the residents she cared for throughout her career, she was devoted to her family. Eileen was the nurse for the family, which meant she helped coordinate care for her younger sister for a time or told the rest of us to make smart, healthy decisions. She loved her home state of Maryland, the Orioles, the Ravens, and family get togethers eating crabs. She was very generous and will be remembered for being the sister, aunt, and friend who always thought to send that birthday card, a congratulations message, holiday wishes or her condolences and who made a family celebration that much livelier.
A visitation and celebration of life service will be held on January 9, 2025 from 10:30am to 11:30am
