Harry McGonigal, born November 7, 1935, in Osceola Mills , PA, to Margaret Walk and Harry McGonigal, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Harry's 88 years were marked by an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and an infectious sense of humor.
As a child, Harry moved to Havre de Grace, MD, where he grew up and spent the rest of his life in Maryland. In 1974, Harry married the love of his life, Brenda McGonigal. Together, they built a beautiful life over 49 years, raising two children, Justin McGonigal, who is married to Amber McGonigal, and Megan Lamont, who is married to Michael Lamont. Harry's family was the cornerstone of his world, and he took immense pride in his five grandchildren: Aidan, Bennett, Olivia, Ellie, and Sophia. He also cherished all his many nieces and nephews, loving them dearly.
Harry was predeceased by his beloved siblings Edna, Robert, and Shirley, with whom he shared many cherished memories. He is survived by his dear brother and sister-in-laws Jim, Pat, Vicky, and Tony, who were also close to his heart.
Harry spent most of his life in Baltimore, MD, where he was known as a dedicated and resourceful entrepreneur. He had an innate ability to find work and create opportunities, owning several successful businesses in construction, roofing, and painting. His work ethic and innovative spirit left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Harry will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality. Always joking and funny, he brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. Harry's helpful nature and willingness to lend a hand made him a beloved figure in his community and among his friends.
Harry had a love for playing chess and poker, fishing, and he was a die-hard Maryland Terrapins basketball fan. His passion for these activities and his enthusiasm for sports were a testament to his competitive and lively spirit.
Harry McGonigal's legacy is one of love, laughter, and hard work. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Friends and family are welcome for visiting hours on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-7 pm at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue where Funeral Service will be held at 7:00.
