James Ferdinand Linhard, Jr., 68, of Crisfield, Maryland, passed away
from cancer on July 3, 2025.
Born in Baltimore, Jim (known as Jimmy by his family) was the son of James
Ferdinand and Helen Hertzog Linhard. He graduated from Loch Raven Senior
High School and attended community college. A lifelong automobile
enthusiast, Jim worked for several years as a manager at Hi-Gear Auto Parts.
Later in his career, he worked in visual merchandising, beginning as a service
representative and eventually becoming a territory manager for home
improvement stores.
Jim’s greatest passion was the drums. He began drumming as a child and
continued to play with joy and dedication all his life. His knowledge of
percussion—from drum construction to legendary drummers—was vast, and
he could talk for hours about his beloved drum kits.
Equally close to his heart were his dogs. Jim had a lifelong love for the family
dogs he grew up with and later cared for two yellow Labrador Retrievers of
his own—Lacey and, more recently, Victoria. Loyal and affectionate
companions, they brought him immense joy and comfort.
Jim spent most of his life in Towson. In 2018, he relocated to Crisfield,
Maryland where he found a welcoming community and the peaceful
surroundings he desired. He enjoyed riding his bike around town and
spending time near the water. After becoming ill in 2024, he returned to
Baltimore for care. During his illness, he remained hopeful, gracious, and
deeply appreciative of the love and support he received from his sisters,
friends, and caregivers.
A lifelong Catholic, Jim attended Mass regularly with his mother and
volunteered for several years at Our Daily Bread in Baltimore, living his faith
through service.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Maura Conner; and his
brothers, John Linhard and Michael Linhard. He is survived by his sisters,
Helen Linhard Aberle (Tom) and Rachel Linhard, along with several nieces
and nephews.
