James Twine Obituary

On January 6, 2025 James  Thomas "Tom" Twine passed away; devoted husband of the late Lovenda "Sarn" Twine (nee Hale); beloved father of Renee Gartside and her husband Michael, and Paula Warnick and her husband Robert; cherished son of the late Louis Twine and the late Rosa Gardener; dear brother of Donald "Wayne" Twine and his wife Mary, Patricia Magrogan  and her husband Mike, and the late Raymond "Ray" Twine and his wife Katie; loving grandfather of Robert Warnick III and his wife Samantha, Broderick Warnick, Miranda Warnick and Matthew Gartside. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

James Thomas “Tom” Twine passed away at the age of 78 after three years of battling several lung diseases.

Tom was born in Suffolk, VA and raised in Chase, MD with his brothers and sister. He attended Kenwood High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Lovenda Hale. He served in the Vietnam War with the United States Air Force out of Yokota Air Base, where he serviced aircrafts and transported wounded soldiers. With his wife by his side, their first daughter was born at Tachikawa Hospital in Japan. After returning to the United States, Tom joined the International Union of Operating Engineers working at Bethlehem Steel. He moved his family to Hawthorne in Middle River and his second daughter was born not long after. From that home, he helped raise and support his four grandchildren as they grew up.

Tom will always be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, and supportive grandfather. Even in his hardest days, Tom never stopped telling jokes or trying to make people smile. He was unwavering in his determination to provide for and take care of his family, and no matter how many hours he worked or how sick he became, when asked how he felt, he always answered, “Fine and dandy, just like chocolate candy.” He was a man who brought life into every room, no matter how grim it seemed. We will forever miss his wit and laughter and always cherish our memories with him.
