On September 22, 2018 Joe "Sonny' Donald Pennington devoted husband of Vivetta Mae (nee Wilfong); beloved father of Joe Junior Pennington and his wife Darlene, Billy Bruce Pennington and Rhoda Ann Megee and her husband Jim; loving "Pap" of Bruce and his girlfriend and caretaker Jessica; cherished "Pap-Pap" Bradley and Brayson; dear brother of Forrest Pennington and his wife Patty, Roy Pennington and his wife Orfie, the late Dale Pennington and Nancy Pennington; loving step "Pap" of Allison; cherished step "Grand Pap" of Ava and Alannah.

A funeral service will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Wednesday at 11 am. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Interment in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
