It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man, John Sidney Forrester, on January 17, 2024. Surrounded by the love of his family, John bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness, love, kindness, and hard work that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
John was born on March 5, 1950 in Salem, West Virginia and dedicated his life to the well-being and happiness of his family. He was a beacon of love, strength and guidance, always putting the needs of others before his own.
His role as a father and grandfather was nothing short of extraordinary. He embraced the responsibilities with open arms, imparting invaluable life lessons and instilling a sense of integrity, strength and kindness in his daughters and grandchildren.
John was not only hardworking but also selfless, thoughtful and caring in every aspect of his life. His generosity knew no bounds, and he willingly offered a helping hand to those in need. His kindness extended beyond the family, touching the lives of friends and neighbors.
As we mourn the loss of a beloved father, Pop Pop, and friend, let us also celebrate the incredible life that John lived. His legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire us all. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we find solace in the memories of the joy and warmth he brought into our lives.
John was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Minnie Forrester (nee Ash), brothers Larry Forrester, Danny Forrester, and Douglas Forrester.
John is survived by his daughters Melissa Harmon (husband Timothy Harmon), Rebecca Forrester (fiancé Jason Hrisanthacopoulos), grandchildren Matthew Harmon, Megan Harmon and Jonathan Hartman, siblings Mitchell Forrester and Linda Hunt.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue, Essex, MD.
Interment will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Salem, West Virginia on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
