On September 18, 2023 Lela Mae Ward (nee Swalley) passed away; devoted wife of the late Clifton W. Ward; beloved mother of Linda Wilfong and her husband Mack Atwood and her former late husband Henry Wilfong, Teresia Bellamy and her husband Kevin, the late Clifton E. Ward and his wife Carol Ward, and the late John E. Ward and his wife JoAnn Ward and former wife Teresa Taravella; loving "Grand-Mom" of Anita, Brian, Sandy, Aaron, Jennifer, Joshua, Adam, Holly, Michael, Eric and the late Robert; cherished great "Grand-Mom" of Ashley, Johnny, Casey, Jaxon, Lily, Jonathan, Jameson, Shelly and Nicole; loving great-great "Grand-Mom" of Wyatt, Bentley, Chloe, Brody, Mikey and the late Justin; beloved daughter of the late John Swalley and the late Nellie Swalley. She is also predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11 am. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 2 - 4, and 6 - 8 pm.
