It is with great sadness that the family of Liane Lutz Brown announce her passing on Saturday, August 10,2024.
Born and raised in Nuremberg Germany. She moved to Maryland in her 20s where she was a devoted wife of 35 years to the late LeRoy Brown and a loving mother to Daniel Brown, Jan Brown and his wife Shelley and their children Logan, Brooklynn, and Jordyn, Jennifer Brown Jones and her husband Chuck and their children Taylor, Ryan, Madisyn, and Falyn and her step son Roy Brown and his children Shanna, Tyler, and Lexi. She also survived by five great grandchildren.
She and her late husband lived in both Baltimore and Harford County as well as 15 years in Cancun, Mexico. Once widowed, Liane moved to Clearwater, Florida before finally returning to Maryland.
Her early Maryland years she primarily lived in Essex and worked in Baltimore’s “downtown” in the Import/ Export Industry. Never without a perfect manicure she often did herself, she never left the house without her hair and makeup and jewelry complete. She was an avid reader, in her earlier years she could be spotted with stacks of books from the local library every week. Liane could read a book by Michener cover to cover in a few short days.
While her children were growing up, she often hosted families from other countries including a high school german exchange student for a full school year as well as french exchange students for back to back summers. Once they were ready to downsize, they retired to Cancún. They enjoyed the new tropical lifestyle and spent the majority of their time in Mexico. They often came back to visit loved ones during the holidays at their second residence in Belair, Maryland.
In Cancun, Liane and her late husband had a thriving car rental business. She was very active in her community as well, donating her time to causes for the less fortunate and supporting local artists. Because Liane spoke three languages, she also was an enthusiastic german tour guide for a popular submarine tour company as well as an active member and later elected President of the International Women’s Club of Cancún. In her free time, she enjoyed entertaining vacationers, taking many to beautiful hidden beaches and touring many of Mexico’s historic ruins, and shopping. She was always adding to her wardrobe. Many of us fondly remember her love of colorful patterns and eclectic outfits often showing her love of different countries and cultures.
Liane was a world traveler. She had visited over 40 countries throughout the years but her fondest memories were with her late husband on a 60 day cruise to Africa and Asia. Many that knew her knew she was a wonderful cook and known especially for her german “Rouladen”. She often cooked for special occasions and holidays or even for a sick neighbor.
Once widowed, Liane moved to Florida’s “TOP OF THE WORLD” in Clearwater where she enjoyed being active in their community, meeting many new friends from all over the US and beyond and planning many trips with family and friends to the local tourist beaches. She also was an active member of the German American Society of Pinellas County and participated in Oktoberfest festivities every year. Many that knew her were fond of her laughter, love of political sparring, unapologetic candor, and absolute zest for life.
Our heartfelt thanks to Gilchrist Hospice Care and the staff at College Manor of Lutherville
