On February 28, 2026 Mary Theresa Amrhein Gibson-Smith passed away; devoted wife of the late James D. Smith; beloved mother of Terri Ponzillo and her husband Joe, and Linda Akehurst and her husband Walter; loving "Grand-Mom" of Mike, Chris, Jennifer and Mary; cherished "GG" of Victoria, Olivia, Emily, Ben, Tyler, Bella, Lily, Noah and Tessa; loving daughter of the late John and the late Rena Armrhein; dear sister of Emma Ruble, Cassie Alvey, Rosemarie Lewis and predeceased by 5 brothers and 1 sister. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Thursday, March 12th, 2026 at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 from 2 - 4, and 6 - 8 pm.

Interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
