Susan was born on April 18, 1944 to Betty and James Fulton. She had five siblings: Mike, Janice, Guy, Linda, and Jimmy. Susan raised five children: Kenny, Chris, Dawn (Sissy), Heather and Harold. If you were to ask anyone in the community, she was a well-respected, loving, kind woman, who was a dedicated mother, wife, and best friend. Susan married her best friend Harold Wheeler Sr and remained true to him throughout the rest her life even after his passing in 2014.
Susan was easy to befriend because of her sense of humor and the joy in taking interest in others; always lending an honest, heart felt opinion and expecting the same in return. If you needed a friend to lean on, she was the best one. She formed many bonds with others in her retirement community such as Joan, Mary, Lindsey, Sarah, and Gloria to name a few. One of her closest bonds was with her daughter-in-law Jessica whom she considered not only a true friend but as her own daughter.
She was more then just a widow and retiree as this obituary states. Susan’s younger years were spent hanging out in New York City on the weekends, going to music shows and even appearing on American BandStand. At one point she was recognized with a Mayoral Citation in Baltimore for her community and school system work. Sue was an avid book reader and at times reading a 500 page novel in two or three days. Her favorite television shows were Friends, Big Bang Theory, Golden Girls, and The Great British Baking Show. She was an excellent cook, collector of unique Christmas decorations, and would whoop you in a game of Monopoly.
Most importantly out of everything you have read about her, Susan was a Christian who found her salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A public visitation will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Ave. on Friday, January 5th from 2 PM to 4 PM. Susan will be privately laid to rest at Holly Hill Cemetery at a later date.
