Virginia passed away peacefully at her home in Bowleys Quarters, Maryland, at the age of 100 Years.
Virginia was born in Sparrows Point, Maryland. Virginia grew up on the Family, 40 acre, Farm located in Edgemere, Maryland.
Virginia attended Edgemere Elementary School, and Sparrows Point High School, where she was voted “Best Girl Athlete”. Virginia enjoyed perfect attendance, never missed a school day, all throughout her School Years.
Virginia married William Shiflett in July, 1942. Her Oldest Son, James, was born January, 1945. Virginia divorced Mr. Shiflett in 1952.
Virginia married Edward T. Cassidy in 1958. Her Second Son, Edward Cassidy, Jr., was born May, 1959.
Virginia worked at Glenn L. Martin Company from 1942 through 1945. Virginia was a “Rosie The Riveter”, where she helped to manufacture the B-36 planes at a very fast rate of production. Virginia has many Plaques and Awards from the Government for her work as a “Rosie The Riveter”.
Virginia then went to work for the Veterans Administration from 1946 through 1968, working for a Pathologist, and as a Secretary.
Virginia then went to work as an Army Investigator of New Recruits in 1983. Virginia retired in 1989, to be a Family Caregiver.
Virginia had a Race Horse named “Storm Pattern”. Her horse won many races in New York, Dover Downs and Ocean City, Maryland.
Virginia was a Christian who loved her Lord and Savior.
Virginia loved to work outside in her garden and yard, play cards and board games, and she loved to water ski at her waterfront home of 65 years.
Virginia was pre-deceased by her Mother, Myrtle J. Cox (née Via), her Father, James M. Cox, her Sisters: Beulah, Elinor, Anona, and her Brother: Carroll James Cox. Virginia was also pre-deceased by her 2 Sons, James, and Edward T. Cassidy Jr., and her Beloved Nephew, Homer Walton, Jr.
Virginia is survived by her Beloved Niece and Caretaker: Christine Zeberlein, her Niece: Barbara Kiefer, her Nephew: William Walton, and her Cousins: Norma Sellers and Patricia Gilbert.
Virginia wanted to Thank and Acknowledge her Very Special Friends: Jeanette Kennedy, Charles (Chuck) Kennedy and Family, Terri, and Dot and Joseph Banick.
